ImagingFP members have access to a range of activities which the Partnership carries out on behalf of the imaging community, for example, networking and technology awareness delivered by the Intelligent Imaging Programme. The most significant benefit of membership however is access to the IFP’s technology translation services on a one-to-one basis.
‘Technology Translators’ work with IFP members to identify areas where the exploitation of imaging technology could bring benefit to their business. This could involve the introduction of a new production technique, helping to develop new markets for a member’s existing technology or assistance in raising finance for new developments. The IFP technology translation team are drawn from a wide variety of industrial and technical backgrounds and have expertise across the whole technology exploitation landscape including specialists in partnership building and public and private sector finance.
The technology translation services which ImagingFPÂ offers are detailed below.
- Accessing new technologies and markets
- Setting up industrial and academic teams for contract or collaborative research and development projects
- Helping teams to tap into a wide range of public and private sector funding mechanisms
- Providing project management and commercialisation skills.
Typically new members will kick-off with a one day workshop during which Technology Translators and key stakeholders in the member’s organisation develop an Action Plan for the next membership period. From the needs expressed in the workshop, Technology Translators work with members’ commercial and technical staff to identify areas which can be addressed by imaging technology and determine the most appropriate ways to take them forward. This process is repeated annually to ensure that the IFP stays current with members’ changing priorities.
